Art 2 Blog

In this project I learned how to use prismacolors, oil pastels, and chalk to draw different pieces of candy and show different ranges in value in the wrapper. The biggest challenge I had with this project was the chalk, it was very messy and hard to get the fine detail of the wrapper. My favorite medium for this project was the colored pencils because they were easy to use and blended very well. The oil pastels took some time for me to get the hang of but got easier the more I practiced.

I have learned many "arting" techniques this semester that have helped me become a better artist such as burnishing which has helped me on two of my projects and water color paint has been another skill that I have learned to use in my artwork. At the beginning of the semester I was not familiar with very many at vocab terms but now I have much more knowledge about art styles and how I can use it in my artwork, My style project is going to be a remake of Andy Warhol's famous Marilyn Monroe picture. I am going to do a classmates face and use photo shop to make different colors, hopefully it turns out well and I learn even more with this project.

I decided to do my space project by drawing a meteor with a space background. It was challenging because I used chalk to color the picture, the hardest part was coloring the flame and keep all of the colors from mixing, but I had experience using chalk during the warm ups you have taught. The chalk was very messy and I had to restart at one point. But the final product I was very happy with and am glad I decided to challenge myself with the chalk. Another artistic technique was using my creativity, when drawing the meteor I drew it with graphite pencils and made areas darker to others to make it seem like there was a shadow, I learned this when I learned to draw spheres with colored pencils and it really helped me for this project. I have learned a lot since my last two projects and am very excited to improve more.

My artwork is of a hand forest, what I did was I painted my hand black and made a handprint on the paper
then added branches to make a tree, I repeated this process 3 times to make a hand forest. I used paint for this project which was a risk because I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but the paint gave the artwork a lot of contrast. I looked on pintrest for this project and saw a lot of similar ideas but made it my own by repeating the trees instead of just doing one tree. I think the final project turned out well but when I evaluated my work I realized I should of made the trees different colors for autumn.
